Arhiv.Online Library) Statutory Instruments2008 No. 55SPORTS GROUNDS AND SPORTING EVENTS, ENGLAND AND WALESThe Safety of Sports Grounds (Designation) Order 2008Made 14th January 2008 Laid before Parliament 15th January 2008 Coming into force 5th February 2008 The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 1(1) and 18(2) of the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975(1). In accordance with section 18(4) of that Act he has consulted with such persons as appear to him to be requisite. Citation and Commencement1. Â Â This Order may be cited as the Safety of Sports Grounds (Designation) Order 2008 and shall come into force on 5th February 2008. Designation2. Â Â The sports grounds specified in the Schedule which, in the opinion of the Secretary of State, have accommodation for more than 10,000 spectators are designated as sports grounds requiring a safety certificate under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975. Amendment to the Safety of Sports Grounds (Rugby Football Grounds) (Designation) Order 19853. Â Â In the Schedule to the Safety of Sports Grounds (Rugby Football Grounds) (Designation) Order 1985(2), the entry in respect of The Boulevard shall be omitted. EXPLANATORY NOTE(This note is not part of the Order) This Order designates the Leigh Stadium in Leigh, occupied by Leigh RMI Football Club and Leigh Centurions Rugby League Club; Twickenham Stoop Stadium in Twickenham, occupied by Harlequins Football Club and Craven Park Stadium in Hull, occupied by Hull Kingston Rovers Rugby League Football Club. The effect of the designations is that each stadium requires a safety certificate under section 1 of the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975. The Order also de-designates The Boulevard in Hull with the effect that it will no longer require a safety certificate under section 1 of the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975.
