Arhiv.Online Library) Statutory Instruments2008 No. 119EDUCATION, ENGLANDThe London Skills and Employment Board (Specified Functions) Order 2008Made 21st January 2008 Laid before Parliament 28th January 2008 Coming into force 25th February 2008 The Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 24B(3) of the Learning and Skills Act 2000 (1), makes the following Order: Citation, commencement and interpretation1. --(1)Â This Order may be cited as the London Skills and Employment Board (Specified Functions) Order 2008 and shall come into force on 25th February 2008. (2)Â In this Order-- "the Act" means the Learning and Skills Act 2000; "the London Skills and Employment Board" means the body established by the London Skills and Employment Board (Establishment) Regulations 2008(2). Specified functions of the Learning and Skills Council for England2. Â Â For the purposes of section 24B(3) of the Act the specified functions of the Council are: (1)Â The duty of the Council in section 3(1)(a) of the Act to secure the provision of reasonable facilities for education (other than higher education) suitable to the requirements of persons who have attained the age of 19; (2)Â The duty of the Council in section 3(1)(b) of the Act to secure the provision of reasonable facilities for training suitable to the requirements of such persons. Bill Rammell Minister of State Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills 21st January 2008 EXPLANATORY NOTE(This note is not part of the Order) The London Skills and Employment Board is under a duty in section 24B(2) of the Learning and Skills Act 2000 to formulate a strategy setting out how the functions specified in this Order are to be carried out by the Learning and Skills Council for England in Greater London, and to keep that strategy under review.
