The Secretary of State for the Environment and the Secretary of State for Wales, acting jointly in relation to England and Wales in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1(5) of the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) Act 1970[1], hereby make the following Order: Citation and commencement 1.This Order may be cited as the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) (Public Bodies) Order 1997 and shall come into force on 19th February 1997. Designation of public bodies 2.Each of the following, being a person appearing to the Secretary of State to be exercising functions of a public nature, shall be a public body for the purposes of the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) Act 1970 in its application to England and Wales: Huddersfield Pride Limited Routes to Work (Derby) Limited Stainforth Development Limited Sydenham SRB Trust. Restrictions on agreements which may be entered into 3.Agreements which may be entered into by a body by virtue of this Order shall be restricted to agreements with a local authority for the supply of goods or materials, or the provision of administrative, professional or technical services, by that authority to that body, in connection with financial or other assistance given or to be given to that body by any person for the purposes of the regeneration of any part of that authority's area. The effect of the designation is to allow a local authority to provide goods and services to the designated bodies. By virtue of article 3, it may only do so provided that the provision is in connection with financial or other assistance to that body by any person for the purposes of the regeneration of any part of that authority's area.
